Betting on the Dallas Cowboys in the playoffs has been a money-losing deal for the past few decades and it may be again this weekend, according to NFL Wild Card betting trends.
Since 1997, the Cowboys have won just twice in 10 playoff games and they are just 3-7 ATS in those games. Meanwhile, they face a surging Seattle team that has been a lock for NFL gamblers on Wild Card weekend, winning six straight times.
Dallas was favored by two points at press time, according to the NFL Wild Card odds menu at Bovada.
In a word, yes. Seattle has been a tough road team and covered the last three times this season as road underdogs. They also enjoy that 6-0 SU run in Wild Card weekends.
Seattle also knows it can win here, collecting a victory at Dallas in September.
A more interesting Wild Card gambling trend involves the over-under. The last 8 times Seattle was a playoff dog, the game went OVER every time!
In a word, possibly. In another word, unlikely. Dallas just doesn’t seem to have the winner pedigree to handle a big game as a home favorite.
The Cowboys were 5-1 SU as a home favorite this season, but often come up small on the big stage. One playoff trend that works against the Seahawks – and therefore works for the Cowboys – is the horrible Seattle trend as a playoff road team.
Since 1984, Seattle is a wallet-draining 2-11 SU as playoff road team and just 4-9 ATS. See the latest NFL Wild Card odds here.
We don’t trust the Cowboys. We don’t like the Seahawks reputation for choking as playoff visitors. What we do like is the fact two of the best scrambling QBs in the NFL will extend plays and make plays, sending this game OVER the total.
The total was 43.5 at Bovada and we would not be surprised to see 50+ points scored here Saturday.
