There’s a Chargers vs Ravens betting problem for NFL fans who rely on trends, as Baltimore faces Los Angeles in the Wild Card round Sunday.
The main trends seem to favor each team, so bettors need to dig a little deeper.
The Ravens have been terrific in Wild Card games, 5-0 SU & ATS. But so have the Chargers, who have won and covered three Wild Card games in a row, including twice as underdogs. That’s the situation Sunday as the Ravens are small home chalk (-2 according to Bovada).
The Ravens have won seven straight ATS in the postseason, but the Chargers are 6-2 ATS since 2008 in playoffs and are 5-1 ATS as a playoff road team since 1995.
We are leaning to the Chargers, as they have won games featuring mobile QBs like Lamar Jackson. They beat the Seahawks and Chiefs, which feature the best two scrambling QBs in the game in Russell Wilson and Patrick Mahomes.
NFLOnlinebetting.com prediction experts also like the fact the Chargers have won SU the past four times they were road dogs this season. Meanwhile the Ravens limped to a 1-5 ATS in their final six games as home favorites.
Baltimore willed their way into the playoffs by ending the regular season with three straight wins and six wins in their last seven. It wasn’t a great show for bettors though, as the Ravens were 1-2 against the spread during their streak and 4-3 ATS in their last final seven.
Home field advantage on Sunday may help Baltimore get past the Chargers, but bettors may want to forget about it. Baltimore was a solid 10-3 straight up in their last 13 home games, but they’re only 5-8 ATS. Under bettors may rely on the fact the Ravens have played UNDER in 6 straight playoff home games since 1995.
The Chargers also rolled down the stretch at 5-1 SU ad 4-2 ATS in their last six. On the road they’ve been even better, with six straight wins both SU and ATS. As an underdog the Chargers have also been money with four straight wins. At press time, the Chargers were two-point underdogs, according to the sportsbooks monitored here.
The postseason hasn’t been very kind to the Chargers in recent years, as they are 2-4 SU but 4-2 ATS in their last six games. The ATS record looks good and going back further it gets even better as they are 6-2 ATS in their last eight.
This will be the second time in less than a month that the Chargers and Ravens will face off. They clashed back in Week 16 when Baltimore came out on top 22-10 as a 4-point road underdog.
